Transitional Kitchen:
Kitchens have become the center of social activity for most homes. In this recent remodel of an 80’s home the kitchen has been reunited with the rest of the house with the opening of the wall between the dining room and kitchen. The concept for this remodel was to create a transitional space that was open and complimented the vertical space present in the rest of the house.

The island creates a central gathering location with cabinet doors available to both the kitchen and dining room. The updated maple cabinets are contrasted with the dark granite countertops and the sleek black appliances. Black silhouette shades continue the dramatic contrasts and complete the design for this transitional kitchen. |

| Kitchen Renovation: Lake House
Elegance for a small lake house kitchen is defined by the dark cherry cabinets. The peninsular layout creates an invisible threshold between the cook’s work space and the entertainment and hosting space.
|
| The work space is clearly defined with a workable triangle on one L of the kitchen. The opposite L has plenty of counter space for work and entertaining. Lighting was enhanced with multiple light sources to maximize natural and artificial light. Recessed and under counter lights reflect the polished granite counter tops. The openness of this kitchen lends itself to the views to and from the outside as well as to adjacent living spaces. |

| Victorian Remodel
When you have a Victorian home restoring its kitchen to the exactness of the period would not be practical for today. A large room with tables, hutches, and an icebox would not be appreciated. The much later 70’s version though functional fails to compliment the rest of this beautiful Victorian. The challenge is to be updated with the latest appliances yet mirror the beautiful woodwork from the rest of the house.

The wood species used in the formal rooms was chosen for the cabinets with the center panels glazed for contrast. The cook top and fan have become the focal point. Many remodels come with a surprise—we opened the suspended ceiling to find a lack of support. With the inclusion of a steel beam—this Victorian home will safely continue into the future. |

| Master Bedroom
Bedding, window treatments, and upholstery create the finishing touches to any room. This serene bedroom retreat is enhanced with the soft romantic balloon valance and drapery panels with a toile pattern repeated again in the bedding and pillows. Add the embellishments of buttons and banding to heighten the details.
|
Tailored cornices in the sitting room act as an accent for the drapery panels with the additional detail of brushed fringe along the edge. The cornices also hide the drapery hardware and silhouette shades that add the light control and privacy. |
